Peer Review

We got two people to critique our blog. They had nothing negative to say and thought that it was really good. Our filming journey has been a rollercoaster of creativity. We included collaboration with my groupmates. We had many unexpected challenges. As a team, we navigated the process of bringing our vision to life on screen. We faced the hurdles of many ideas. We worked hard even if we couldn't meet in person. We had unique circumstance of virtual editing over FaceTime. The title sequence and opening shot became focal points of our film, and despite settling on a font, last-minute considerations made us think that we needed to refilm. Choosing her house as a backdrop was a positive choice. It had the bet space we needed and the items tht we needed. Crucial film details made a sense of personal touch but also led to a realization about the nature of the project. Unearthing the requirement to create a true opening sequence, added a layer of frustration but sparked innovative proble

Editing Additions

We re-edited quite a bit of content for editing. To start with, my initial plan was to modify our sequence. I edited as I promised. Mai'lyia edited the movie on Alight Motion, but we eventually moved to Danvinci Resolve. Using a split screen at the start of the movie was another thing we adjusted. That's the reason Ludji and Mai'lyia were facing each other the way they would if they were face to face. The screen was split to indicate that they were in different locations. The video clips in which they were conversing were also cut. It was clear from the lengthy gaps in between each exchange that they weren't actually speaking on the phone. I realized how long the videos were, so I cut them. The film's title was another item we revised. We used a typeface named "horror," however that font wasn't there on the website we utilized, as I noted in my blog post regarding titles and fonts. Additionally, I had to change the title because there is a specific se

The Filming Struggles

Regarding re-filming our opening sequence, we didn't do a lot of it. We did consider re-filming once we quickly realized that we had made a small mistake. But with February almost over, we reasoned that we wouldn't have enough time to even reshoot. A few segments of our opening sequence were re-filmed. For example, re-filming the scenario if there was background noise or if someone laughed. We had to re-film a scene once since we decided not to use my camera after all. The quality of the camera was excellent, and it seemed like the greatest option for use. But my camera was almost out of battery. So, we had to reshoot the scene in which Ludji is speaking to me on the phone. The exterior of her house is probably where we would re-film if we had to. It was still fairly light outside when she took this video of my house. This movie is set in what feels like an evening or dusk. Presenting the house in its brightest light could potentially confuse viewers. Maybe they'll realize

Music Blog: Music Selection

Image
We selected to use royalty-free music for our song. We sort of took our time choosing the music. If we had chosen a song by a singer/artist, it would have taken far too long for them to get back to us. I quickly looked up eerie royalty-free music so that we could choose this. Many possibilities surfaced for this. I simply selected the first option that appeared or that I saw. Because there were different sounds in this video, it was really excellent. The video lasted for an hour. I simply flipped through the videos to find my favorite. I thought the first one was the best. I then sent a message to our group's group chat. Mai'lyia and Ludji both mentioned how much they enjoyed the first one. We choose to employ the first one as a result. It was a very tense and unsettling sound that would undoubtedly make someone uneasy. The sound was referred to as "Deafening Silence." It actually did, in my opinion, fit the tone of our initial scene. Using this one made a lot of sen

Editing Blog: Setbacks

Image
We started editing. Editing our film proved to be quite challenging as we grappled with differing opinions on its direction. Complicating matters further, we edited the film over FaceTime, hindering our ability to collaborate face-to-face. We were having issues understanding what as required. Initially, we deliberated on the title sequence and the opening shot, having already settled on the font but entertaining some last-minute ideas. Unfortunately, these last-minute ideas were non-negotiable due to their prior mention in our blogs. We decided to feature Mai'lyia's in part of the film, showcasing details like the title, actors, and production company. However, an unexpected realization during editing added to our frustration. The instructions specified that we were creating an opening sequence for a movie, emphasizing the challenge of capturing the essence of a film's beginning. This, particularly frustrating for me as the one who discovered it, led to the need for adjustm

Editing Blog: Things Switched

Therefore, while not entirely incorrect, we completed the last task's filming portion incorrectly. The movie is meant to be a movie's opening scene. Rather than that, we filmed an entire short film. They gave me permission to modify this time as I had a fix request. They provided me with assistance when I needed it. But since I claimed to have Davinci Resolve, we decided it would be better for me to edit the movie. Mai'lyia captured a scene outside her home, which we were in need of. I think I will be the one to combine the footage to make it appear like an opening scene. This is done with the intention of not giving away the entire storyline or content. As I chose the fonts, I will provide the text, titles, and information about production and editing. Ludji agreed that it would be better if we skipped over the portion of the phone conversation that involved her and me. While the opening process should only last a minimum of one minute and fifty-seven seconds, this takes

Filming Blog: Finishing the process

Image
Our filming process took two weekends. During the initial weekend, we weren't confused but rather uncertain about how to kick off the project. We filmed a segment, engaged in discussions, and further strategized the film's beginning. The next weekend, Ludji and me headed to Mai'lyia's house, where we successfully completed all filming activities. Originally considering Mai'lyia's camera, we opted for an alternative approach. During the prior weekend, the camera was almost out of power. Additionally, transferring videos to my phone for proper merging and editing proved to be a lengthy and intricate task. Consequently, we chose Ludji's iPhone 11 for filming, benefitting from its cinematic feature. This decision yielded impressive quality, boasting smooth movements and excellent lighting. However, scenes filmed in darkness had slightly lower quality and noticeable graininess. While acknowledging the film's dark theme, I desired a slightly better visual out

Filming Blog: The Beginning!

To be honest, filming was enjoyable and fairly simple. Ludji and I spent the weekend at Mai'Lyia's house so we could shoot. It was easy but challenging at the same time as we were filming. Being videotaped can be uncomfortable at times, but also funny. To get an outstanding video, we had to reshoot a lot of the scenes. We spent almost three hours filming the video which felt like a longer time. Many times, background noise or someone laughing would cause the scenes to sound off, so we would have to start over. We shot in a variety of locations across Mai'lyia's house. We filmed in, the living room, kitchen, back of the home, her room, her sister's room, and her brother's room. The laundry room and dryer in the back of the house served as the primary location or scene for the video. To add even more of an unsettling atmosphere, recordings were made at the back. We also waited to film till it was darker because we needed some darkness during the filming. Ludji wa
